(A)political is a series of collages informed and inspired by the anti-war photomontages of John Heartfield and Peter Kennard, Soviet Constructivist propaganda posters, punk rock and black metal artwork, Dadaist graphic design, and contemporary political artists such as Jamie Reid and Barbara Kruger. It comments upon issues such as inequality, greed, power abuse, fascism, racism, human rights, activism, militarism, capitalism and the "new world order".

The work combines fragments of urban street posters with photographs found in second-hand books, journals and magazines. It portrays a dystopian reality where the prevailing mood is that of pessimism, continuous struggle and existential despair. Images of politicians, dictators, priests and religious leaders intertwine with pictures of suffering immigrants, crying children, angry protesters, anti-authoritarian rebels, insurrectional texts and anarcho-punk iconography. This clash of opposing elements gives birth to bleak palimpsests which reflect the various contrasting elements of a society that must be constantly prepared for the next protest, riot or war.

By contemplating the various layers of this visual study the beholder can distinguish an underlying need for creating  a different kind of  socio-political model. With its harsh and crude imagery the project expresses the overarching atmosphere of disillusionment with electoral politics, state oppression, governmental and religious corruption, police brutality, fake urban lifestyles, obsessive-compulsive consumer habits and commodity society in general. If someone compares the artificiality and superficiality of today's postmodern capitalist way of life with the brutal assault these collages seem to unleash, they will realize that this is what the artist aims to achieve: a "radical incision" in the public consciousness.

BOOKTALKS (bookstore in Athens)

Το Booktalks άνοιξε στο Παλαιό Φάληρο τον Δεκέμβριο του 2013 από την Κατερίνα Μαλακατέ και τον Άγη Αθανασιάδη. Μέσα σ’ αυτά τα χρόνια έγινε ένας κλασικός βιβλιοφιλικός χώρος για την πόλη της Αθήνας.

Το Booktalks αποπνέει μια σπιτική ατμόσφαιρα και στόχος των ιδιοκτητών είναι να μην αποτελεί ένα απρόσωπο μαγαζί αλλά όποιος μπαίνει σ' αυτό να αισθάνεται σαν το σπίτι του.

Εκτός από βιβλιοπωλείο είναι και café, σημείο συνάντησης, διοργανώνει λέσχες ανάγνωσης και εργαστήρια δημιουργικής γραφής.

ΒΙΒΛΙΟΠΩΛΕΙΟ ΛΕΜΟΝΙ

Λεμόνι: Ένα κρυμμένο και ατμοσφαιρικό βιβλιοπωλείο στην καρδιά της Αθήνας για τους «υπόγειους» αναγνώστες.

Σε μια κατ' εξοχήν μικροαστική πολυκατοικία στον πεζόδρομο της οδού Ηρακλειδών, εκεί όπου τα μαγαζάκια λιανικού εμπορίου επιβιώνουν σαν παμπάλαιες επιγραφές «Πίστωσις δεν δίδεται», κατεβαίνουν τα σκαλάκια του ημιυπόγειου βιβλιοπωλείου Λεμόνι.

Στα ράφια του Λεμονιού βρίσκεται, ομολογουμένως στριμωγμένος, ο αφρός της ελληνικής αλλά και ξένης λογοτεχνίας. Βιβλία λιγότερο εμπορικά αλλά επιλεγμένα με μεγάλη προσήλωση στην ποιότητα, και από την άποψη του κειμένου αλλά και της έκδοσης.

Το βιβλιοπωλείο "Κωνσταντινίδης" είναι το ιστορικότερο και ένα από τα παλαιότερα βιβλιοπωλεία της Θεσσαλονίκης που συνεχίζει να μυεί τον κόσμο στη μαγεία του βιβλίου. 

Επενδύει στην προσωπική σχέση με τους αναγνώστες, μια σχέση που κρατά σχεδόν επτά δεκαετίες. Σημείο αναφοράς επί χρόνια για τον ακαδημαϊκό χώρο και τις κλασικές σπουδές έχει υποδεχθεί γενιές φοιτητών, ακαδημαϊκών και συγγραφέων.

MOMus: Κοινό Κτήμα

Η σπονδυλωτή έκθεση «Κοινό Κτήμα/Public Domain» (11.03-25.09) θα αναπτυχθεί σε όλους τους χώρους περιοδικών εκθέσεων του MOMus και περιλαμβάνει τα έργα τέχνης που αποκτήθηκαν στο πλαίσιο της πρώτης φάσης του προγράμματος αγορών του MOMus, καθώς και των δωρεών που περιήλθαν στην κατοχή του μουσείου μέσα στα τρία χρόνια από τη συγκρότηση του οργανισμού.

Σημαντική προτεραιότητα της συλλεκτικής πολιτικής αποτελεί αφενός η στήριξη της εγχώριας καλλιτεχνικής δημιουργίας και αφετέρου η ουσιαστική διεύρυνση του περιεχομένου των συλλογών με αξιόλογους δημιουργούς από την Ελλάδα και το εξωτερικό, το έργο των οποίων εντάσσεται στις πλέον προωθημένες τάσεις της εποχής και συνομιλεί με το ιστορικό και κοινωνικό συγκείμενο.

Τις εκθέσεις πλαισιώνει δίγλωσσος κατάλογος και εκπαιδευτικές δράσεις.
